After a strong opening win at Abbey Rangers, Teddington Athletic go to Colne Valley, who play at Kenyngton Manor Recreation Ground, Bryony Way, Sunbury-on-Thames TW16 7RH. Teddington will be playing in their WHITE away shirts. Last season Teddington played Colne's junior side at the same location, but over summer they folded that team into their main, top-flight one; in the summer Athletic also played a short-sided game against Colne. Last week they lost 7-0 at home to Crystal Palace, which indicates the excellence of some of the sides in this league: Palace finished third last season, but only five points behind champions Wimbledon (Croydon were second). Next Sunday, Palace host Teddington.
Other results from the opening week – Abbey 2-6 Teddington, Wimbledon 6-0 South Park, Croydon 2-2 Fleet Town (unbeaten champions of last season's second tier) – show that, although it's early days, there may be a divide in this division between title contenders and the rest. It will be interesting to see where Teddington fit into that.
