Come join the fun with a winning team

Teddington Athletic U16 Girls are looking to recruit new players for the 2017/18 season.

After four successful and enjoyable seasons, the team has lost some well-loved players in summer 2017 – for a variety of reasons: from relocation, to concentrating on schoolwork, to focusing on becoming an Olympian in a different sport (no, really). As a result, 12 talented young women require some extra team-mates for the season ahead.

The new players would need to be in academic Year 10 or 11 for 2017/18 and would join a friendly, fun-loving squad. The management’s stated aim is to nurture talented players who love the beautiful game; rather than prioritising short-term glory by winning by any means, the coaches want to create players for life, who will go on to play for decades – at amateur or professional level.

It seems to be working so far: after winning their lower-division U12 title without dropping a point, the girls have impressed in Surrey’s Premier Division, finishing 4th, 5th and most recently 3rd whilst also reaching two county cup finals in three years. Meanwhile, two of the girls have gone on to join academies at professional women’s clubs.

A FA Chartered club with fully-qualified managers and professional coaches, Teddington Athletic is one of south-west London’s biggest youth-oriented clubs, with hundreds of players in dozens of teams including five girls’ sides at various age levels. The U16 girls will play on Sunday and train on Friday (separate goalkeeper training is available and may be on a different evening).
